The Yerkes Glass Plate Collection consists of more than 200,000 photographic glass plates negatives located at the University of Chicago and Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, WI. Representing images from the 1890s to the 1980s, the collection includes sky surveys, objective prism observations, and spectroscopic images, among other types of plates. The plates shown here are a small fraction of the existing material, and are intended to demonstrate the scope and feature interesting objects in the collection. It is neither a complete archive of the plates, nor a repository for scientific research. If you are interested in more information about the plate collection, or have questions about utilizing images or information beyond what is available on LUNA, please contact Lauren Boegen, Project Manager.
